Jersey

Join our bike safety campaign by wearing the Bike Walk Alliance’s Safe Passing jersey. The jersey features a graphic on the back that shows motorists they need to give cyclists at least three feet while passing.

Motorists will be educated every day you are out on the road. The jersey was designed and manufactured by Primal Wear, one of the top cycling clothing companies, and produced in partnership with Performance, Inc. and Westchester Cycle Club. The jersey is part of the educational campaign for Merrill’s Law, New York state’s Safe Passing legislation, which calls for motorists to pass cyclists at a “Safe Distance.” The jersey teaches that motorists should give cyclists at a three-foot buffer. The law is named in honor of Merrill Cassell, who was killed in 2009 when he was sideswiped by a BeeLine bus on Route 119 in Greenburgh.

Thanks to Don Meeker at Meeker Associates in Larchmont, for the Safe Passing graphic; and to Tara Framer, of Tara Framer Design in Tarrytown, for the Bike Walk Alliance logo on the jersey’s front.
