Honor US Rep. Nita Lowey for her Bike Advocacy on Nov. 10 at 7:00 PM

You’re invited to our second annual party in Bronxville this fall to celebrate bike advocacy in the lower Hudson Valley.

We’ll gather on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. the Bronxville Women’s Club to drink Captain Lawrence’s latest micro-brewed ale, sip some wine, mingle with old and new friends, have dinner catered by Ciao, and listen to recording artist Champian Fulton, one of Manhattan’s top jazz singers.

Rep. Nita Lowey

We’re honoring US Rep. Nita Lowey for her advocacy on our behalf this year. She joined our grassroots campaign to urge the MTA to include secure bike-parking at the new parking structure at the North White Plains station.

The event benefits the Bike Walk Alliance, an affiliate of the East Coast Greenway Allliance. It’s been a great year at the BWA. We held the third annual Westchester Bike Summit in May, continuing our campaign to keep biking and pedestrian issues on the region’s public agenda. We sponsored the Rye Family Bike Festival, where we taught 60 kids to ride bikes. We worked with municipalities on the Sound Shore to put up signs for the East Coast Greenway, highlighting our part of the 3,000-mile pathway from Maine to Florida that runs through Westchester. Our Safe Passing jersey campaign has gotten to message out on the road about Merrill’s Law. We’re working with the city of White Plains on developing bike lanes in the city. And we are working with the Southern Westchester Energy Action Consortium to promote Complete Streets legislation in local communities.
